Hey chaps,
been a while since I posted but this incident peaked my interest today.
Firstly, was anybody else playing monopoly live today at around 1pm when the camera malfunctioned meaning that the players could not see the actual spin?
it was quite a strange one.
i for instance, had €250 placed on the spin. Just as the host spun the wheel the camera panned to him on the side and never returned to the wheel until a few minutes after the ball had landed, meaning players never actually saw the wheel spin and never seen it land on the winning number (number 1 direct to the right of 2 rolls which annoyed many even more of course)
the worker explained that the camera had malfunctioned but assured everyone that the ball had landed in the one section.
the spin was not replayed and no refunds were given.
i didn't think too much of it at the time until I had a conversation with a close friend regarding the matter.
We came to the conclusion that trusting the word of the company you are literally betting against with no Visual evidence is comparable to betting real money against a stranger on how many fingers they are holding up behind their back and trusting whatever they tell you.
i guess my main issue is this, if players had know before placing their bets that they would not actually be able to see the wheel but would instead be told in good faith by an employee what the result was, would anyone have still placed the bet?
*Not really looking to complain to the company or anything, just wanted to know what others opinions on an issue like this is? Would you accept the word of a gambling company employee when it comes to your bet against them?
cheers for any replies.
I don't play Monopoly Live, Roulette or Crazy Time because whilst you obviously can win, i don't think they are set up well enough to be 100% trusted as 'fair'. They can be regulated all they want but as far as I think, they know exactly what is coming out on every go.
Your description of taking their word is very good. Why should you take their word. If you have put money on a horse race and it's down to the home straight and you are watching, would you want for your view to be obscured or video feed to be blanked for you to be told the result.....of course not.
They should have voided it. From what I hear they are quite capable of doing that when it benefits them.
Thanks for the reply superdavey.
i was in live chat immediately after it occurred and all they said was they have paid out number one as a winner and will not be replaying the spin or making any refunds on the bets.
the more I talk to people about it the more I feel a little robbed. It was a €250 spins after all and I never actually seen it played out due to their mistake.
Maybe I will send an email to evolution gaming stating my issues with the decision. I will have to locate the spin first but maybe it's worth making an issue of.
after all, they're in business to take our money so why should we blindly trust them

Malfunctions should void all pays, which means voiding any wager on that particular spin also. Have you been on live chat at all regarding this?
all pays AND plays - luck they paid on any number.
You could argue that you are also betting on wether the equipment will remain functional for that particular spin.
But in this regard the equipment producing the outcome didn't fail. (as far as we know!)
yes its hard to trust, but its just the same as if you request a game round from a server and the server responds okay, but before you can recieve your result, you have a power cut.
Due to technology, the server can RE send you that game round, I would argue, they too, should have had a backup camera to switch to.
Check my post on how crazy time COULD be rigged aswell, It makes for an interesting read.
I wonder - did Mr Monopoly stay in the same place, or did he follow the cam? :D
Honestly, I think returning all bets WOULD have been a smarter move though, and voiding the spin. From a customer satisfaction point of view.
They can't have so many overheads that it wouldnt be economically viable to run the game anymore by doing so!
That was a big question of mine also. Surely they would have cameras all over that room so why didn't they just show a different camera view to help resolve all of the complaints regarding the issue. They didn't but I agree there cannot only be one camera that views the wheel in that room, that would be madness.
I mean just look at the number of cameras in crazy time!!
Probably some mental legislation surrounding them though.
